Painted Cliffs, Maria Island (Tasmania, Australia)

Located in Maria Island, a mountainous island off the east coast of Tasmania, the Painted Cliffs are sandstone with beautiful patterns formed through staining by iron oxide. Recently sea spray hitting the rock face has dried to form crystals of salt.
