Zhangye Danxia Landform (Gansu province, China)

The Zhangye Danxia landform is also known as the eye candy of Zhangye. This four hundred square kilometer attraction is located in Gansu Province in northwest China and is surrounded by color hills. Geologists believe that danxia are formed as a result of movement in the earth’s crust. This makes rock layers appear in different colors, textures, shapes, sizes and patterns. The combination of these differences creates towering peaks, cave holes and stone halls.
